Imposing and very important sideboard from the famous noble family of Viterbo "FAMIGLIA CALABRESI", recovered from a hunting lodge of the same family. The wood is all solid and burr walnut with beautiful book-matched veins on the panels, columns and fluted pilasters with leaf capitals. Behind the piece of furniture there are various inscriptions, one with the signature of the person who made it, Angelo Celestini, a craftsman from Viterbo dated 25 May 1883, plus the dedication to "Pius IX, King of Rome 1883". Pope Pius IX was the last King of Rome and his pontificate was the longest in the history of the church, after Saint Peter, he died in 1878. In 1883 his successor, Pope Leo XIII wanted to pay homage to this important Pontiff, PASSED TO HISTORY FOR having proclaimed the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, he was then beatified in 2000 by Pope John Paul II. In fact, the piece of furniture was commissioned by the Calabresi family in 1883, precisely in honor of the Pope, as per the dedication. The beautiful upper cartouche, masterfully carved, raff. Crowned noble coat of arms, with the date 1722 engraved on the back. Also present in various parts on the back of the cartouche, again the date 1722 and the name of whoever made it "FECE FRA' GIO BATTISTA ROMA" and further engraving "PADRE AMADEO OF ROME YEAR 1722 GUARDIANO”, probably coming from some convent or church, which was in the possessions of the Calabresi family.
