Extraordinary large fireplace in Pietra Serena from Florence, probably commissioned for an important wedding, as you can see, the fireplace is finely carved with four coats of arms on the architrave and the brackets, depicting a rampant lion, an eagle, three dolphins and Farnese lilies. On the architrave there are beautiful bow and ribbon motifs, a laurel wreath and festoons, and there is also an inscription in Latin "IGNIS AURUM PROBAT MISERIA FORTIS" which means "fire is used to test gold, misfortune tests strong men" (SENECA, DE PROVIDENTIA V, 9-10)
