Important and very rare Tuscan well in travertine. Completely carved and decorated with floral motifs on the four sides, it has four coats of arms in the four corners including a rampant lion, a tower with a lion, a rooster and crossed hands. Placed on its original floor, it is surmounted by a beautiful iron for taking buckets of water. Later, during the late 18th century, the very deep well was equipped with a water pump consisting of a large cast iron wheel that acted as a flywheel and a terracotta mask from which the water flowed. Period first decade of the 1400s. Origin Florence. The iron with pulley is from the same period as the well, therefore coeval.
